MIC Hosts Second Annual Model United Nations Conference

Maputo International College (MIC) proudly hosted its second Model United Nations (MUN) Conference from May 30 to June 1, 2025. Seven schools—Birlik, Grandeur, Sanana, St. Mary of Nampula, Maputo International School, Aga Khan Academy, and MIC—came together to engage in thoughtful debate and collaborative problem-solving.

The conference featured five dynamic committees:

  • Committee on Outer Space
  • Political Committee
  • General Assembly
  • Security Council
  • Counter-Terrorism Committee

Participants debated current global issues, upheld diplomatic decorum, and followed strict parliamentary procedures. The primary aim of the conference was to foster diplomacy, collaboration, and international understanding among students. Resolutions were ultimately passed in each committee, reflecting well-researched and cooperative solutions to global challenges—hallmarks of a true Model United Nations experience.

MIC Delegates Shine

Outstanding delegates were recognized by the chairs of each committee for their debating skills, leadership, and participation. MIC students received multiple awards:

  • Most Entertaining Delegates:
Kabir, Ruhaan, Savana, Nyengo, and Winner
  • Honorable Mention – Best Delegate:
Tamya, Kaythan, Shreya, Anjika, and Diogo
  • Best Delegate / Best Speaker:
    Ibrahim and Karen

MIC proudly garnered the majority of awards in the “Most Entertaining” and “Honorable Mention” categories, and secured 2 out of the 5 “Best Speaker” awards—an impressive achievement!

Congratulations to MIC and to all the students who participated. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next Model United Nations Conference in Eswatini!
